This initiative has helped both locals and visitors rediscover the tranquility that nature offers.

In November, Eleni and a friend took on the challenge to uncover 21 breathtaking natural locations, all within a short distance from the city center. These are not just average parks; they are serene retreats that provide a refreshing getaway from the city’s fast pace.

Among the standout locations of their expedition are Pasha’s Garden, Elaiorema, and Platanakia. Each has its unique allure, making it easy to forget you are close to an urban environment. Pasha’s Garden, for example, is a vibrant green sanctuary perfect for relaxation. It features winding paths, still waters, and diverse plant life that invite quiet reflection and leisurely strolls.

To make these spots even more accessible, Belma Nahic (from Bosnia Herzegovina) with the support of ESAI EN ROI team developed QR codes linked to Google Maps for each location. This clever tool helps anyone find and visit these natural havens. According to recent surveys, over 70% of people prefer using technology to enhance their travel experiences, underscoring the value of these QR codes. Whether you are a local seeking a peaceful weekend or a tourist wanting to unwind, these codes help simplify your journey.

As the project evolves, Mariam and Saba are stepping up to ensure its continued success. They are currently reviewing each site, creating detailed visitor guides, and sharing insider tips. Their passion for celebrating Thessaloniki’s natural beauty is contagious, and they are excited about their upcoming presentation, which will highlight ESAI EN ROI’s original vision.

Reconnecting with nature is crucial for our well-being. According to research, spending time in natural settings can reduce stress by up to 60% and improve overall mood by 40%. This project aims to motivate people to step outside, breathe in fresh air, and appreciate the natural beauty that Thessaloniki presents.

There is an array of hidden natural gems to discover in Thessaloniki. The initiative driven by ESAI EN ROI volunteers represents a significant leap towards bridging the divide between urban living and nature. With the aid of technology, exploring these green spaces is easier than ever. So, take your smartphone, scan those QR codes, and set off on a quest to find the tranquility that awaits just beyond the city borders.

Let’s embrace the natural wonders of Thessaloniki and enjoy the green spaces that enhance our quality of life. Happy exploring!
